"Communication is important."
Trilana worked as a Communications Officer on a starbase until being rescued by the LSS Freedom when the starbase was destroyed. She befriended the Freedom's Communication's Officer, Stardrive, while coordinating the starbase's evacuation with the Freedom. Stardrive agreed to hide her in his quarters while the other inhabitants of the starbase disembarked on a friendly planet, and continued to do so until it was too late to take her back and she was allowed to join LONAC.
Some time later, the LSS Freedom underwent a complete refit. During that time, Stardrive and Trilana took a trip to the Verellian Empire, the origin of Stardrive's altered form. There they met up with Stardrive's former partner Zran, who was then aiding a rebel group attempting to overthrow the Empire and restore democratic rule. The rebels rebuilt and upgraded Trilana using Stardrive's enhanced vehicle mode as a basis. In exchange for this, Stardrive and Trilana gave them some assorted items from LONAC's side of the galaxy, and aided the rebels in several classified missions.
