NMA-Class Mallet
|
A primitive, brute weapon long ago lost to all but the most unevolved
of civilizations, this mallet is currently DC's only mean of offense.
It is approximately 3/4 her height, from tip of handle to bottom of
head, and composed of high-grade Cybertronian alloys. A solid handle
with a core of osmium to keep the handle from bending and breaking
when lifting the mallet's head, which is quite heavy. The head, on the
other hand, is partially hollow; the inside is made up of
"compartments" of empty space, each seperated by eight-inch-thick walls
of osmium/titanium alloy. The outer "shell" of the mallet head if made
of an osmium/platinum alloy for superior hardness in addition to a nice
shine.
In essence, it's little more than a giant hammer. Its special abilities
are few in number; the most noteworthy of its uses are brought about
by the handler. The mallet's lightweight interior and strong handle
make it excellent for everything from brutal swings at opponents to
careful taps to pound out dents in metal plating, like that of the
Freedom's hull. It is, however, no more than a floating piece of space
junk when in zero G: if used for attack in zero gravity, whether in
space or otherwise, the holder will find his or herself spinning out of
control until brought to a stop by, frankly, crashing into something.
What separates DC's mallet from others is one special quality she had
programmed into it some time ago. When hurled, as she often does when
in battles over long ranges, the mallet undergoes a boomerang effect of
sorts. After striking its target, a magnetic pull between its handle
and DC's wrist is initialized, causing it to rush back towards her the
way it came. This magnetic feature is also used to attach itself to
DC's back when she travels and can't be bothered with lugging it around
by hand.
