Chameleon had been an Autobot since before the Ark crashed onto Earth. He recieved his name due to his ability to blend into his surroundings. He has been Flashpoint's friend since not long after he was created.
Like the other Tactibots, Chameleon was also on the Ark when it crashed to Earth. Once he was revived he recieved a fighter mode of the same design as the Decepticon Smokescreen. At a later time just before Flashpoint left for LONAC when they formed Hyperion, some of Flashpoint's altered programming infiltrated Chameleon. The altered programmming finally affected him once he got to LONAC and found Flashpoint. A recent scan showed that he shouldn't be influenced any more by the programming, and that it was just an isolated occurance.
