The Spiderbot's were originally created by the Autobot Wheeljack, exclusively for use by the Tactibots. The spiderbots are able to perform a variety of different tasks, including scouting, surveillence and also act as a stationary, or moving mine field.

The rear section of each spiderbot contains an explosive device which the spiderbots are able to detonate at any moment they feel is neccessary. The optical sensors on each spiderbot are able to detect heat, and a variety of different energy types as well as giving basic sight capabilities. Each Tactibot only ever has two spiderbots at the most with them at a time when on a mission. The spiderbots have also also been designed so that Hyperion is able to see all facets of the battlefield through their eyes when formed.

The tips of each Spiderbots legs have been designed so that they are able to travel on a wide variety of different surfaces, which could be hazardous to larger forms.
