Somewhat unstable in more ways than one, Solder is a living testament to his
own knack for field repairs. Capable of finding ways to bypass most small to
light-medium damage in sentient and non-sentient machines, he could be
considered indespensible to a combat unit. However he is also a testament to
his ego - he does not realize that his work should only be considered temporary.
As such he suffers from the side-effects of having too many of his repairs to
himself go unchecked for too long. Memories of a failed Autobot attempt to
save his home city-state on Cybertron led to his hating them as equally the
Decepticons for attacking in the first place. Otherwise easygoing and
friendly. Bothered by the closeness of his name to the word "soldier",
but never thinks to changing it.
Treaded vehicle mode allows enhanced terrain-negotiating capabilities.
Multi-tool arm provides most of the equipment he needs to do his work in either
mode. Functioning much like a Terran pocket knife, it carries, among other things,
a cutting/welding laser, wire stripper/cutter, soldering iron, and a standard power
socket to allow others to borrow some of his own energy. Diagnostic scanners
mounted in Solder's optics allow him to quickly troubleshoot problems under fire.
Multitool available in both modes, magnetic arms and small repair table also
available in vehicle mode. Carries standard plasma rifle.
While his less than remarkable statistics give him little combat
advantage, Solder's greatest weakness remains his ego. He is too sure of himself,
and thus does not realize that he is capable of making mistakes now and then
just like everybody else. He also does not realize the actual difference between
field repair and medical repair, so he has rarely had any of his own internal damage
completely corrected, resulting in functional glitches and shutdowns at random.
Most frequent problem is malfunctioning micro-antigravs in his fenders, causing
them to fall to the ground in mid-transformation, sometimes damaging the treads housed
inside. His attempts to fix this may only be making the problem worse, and only time
will tell if he will live to outgrow this fault.
