Session Start: Sun Nov 23 01:11:00 2003
[01:11] [narration] The Freedom is nearing Perihelion, and will arrive in under an hour. However, something has been interfering with communications ahead. Therefore, noone knows exactly what to expect upon arrival.
[01:13] <Lightning> I have had no success in managing to break through the interference. I still can not get a sensor reading.
[01:14] <Waitstate> We're sure the colony is there though, right? We have secondary confirmation?
[01:14] * Slipstream shrugs, leaning back in her chair at the tactical station and grinning. "For all we know, an alternate us came along before and blew it up."
[01:15] <Lightning> A few hours ago, yes. Since the interefernce began, we have only confirmation the planet is there.
[01:17] * Leroy hangs out on the bridge, slowly smoking a cigarette, one of the armored White Star's standing next to him.
[01:18] <Admiral Lilwall> By now Overwrite must be having another breakdown.
[01:18] <Slipstream> That's probably what, the fifth this month?
[01:18] <Waitstate> Yeah, heh. I wonder if they were able to detect us?
[01:20] * Leroy listens, chuckling slightly.
[01:22] <Admiral Lilwall> We can't even get a fix on the location of the interference, how are we going to do anything about it?
[01:22] <Waitstate> We'll just have to get past it and hope for the best.
[01:23] <Gravix> I'm ready for anything.
[01:23] * Sunspot stands around the bridge with Moonstone wondering if the sensors need tweaking.
[01:23] * Slipstream fiddles idly with something similar to a rubix cube.
[01:23] * Lifeblood is on the bridge for the approach, more for formality than anything else.
[01:26] <Cirrus> Perihelion's coming into visual range.
[01:27] <Waitstate> Looks like it's still there. Any luck on comms yet?
[01:27] <Slipstream> Nope, not yet...
[01:27] <Gravix> Exploration is it not?
[01:28] <Gravix> Oh right, LONAC has a team down there.
[01:28] <Waitstate> More than a team, if they've done their job.
[01:29] <Waitstate> Admittedly, I didn't expect to be out of contact for so long.
[01:29] <Admiral Lilwall> Given that as far they knew, we were all dead, they've probably made it on their own far better than we'd have hoped for.
[01:30] <Leroy> MORE of you guys? You should open your own interplanetery hotel ring....*smile*
[01:30] <Admiral Lilwall> Heh, by comparison to the major factions, we're nothing in terms of numbers.
[01:30] <Waitstate> We should take you guys to Cybertron some time. You'd explode from techno-overload ;)
[01:31] <Gravix> I don't believe organics do that.
[01:31] <Lifeblood> Until the other factions inevitably grind themselves to dust against the gears of war.
[01:31] <Slipstream> Cheerful as always, aren'tchya LB? *grins*
[01:32] <Lightning> The war has been raging for millions and millions of years, it will never end.
[01:32] <Lifeblood> Apparently not.
[01:32] <Lifeblood> So indicates this new resurrection of hostilities.
[01:33] [narration] Suddenly the ship begins to shake, a yellowish nimbus filling the foreward viewscreen. Tactical sensor indicators start going nuts.
[01:33] <Waitstate> What the- Tactical, status!
[01:33] * Sunspot holds on.
[01:34] <Gravix> I'm running scans now.
[01:34] * Slipstream sits up, subbing away her rubix thing and fingers quickly flying over her keyboard, optics fixed on the screen. "Well, this is interesting..."
[01:34] <Gravix> Systems don't seem to be able to identify it.
[01:34] * Leroy looks up, dropping his cigarette looking up at the anomoly.
[01:34] <Gravix> It seems to be some sort of gravity field.
[01:35] <Gravix> Very intense.
[01:35] <Slipstream> *dryly* Here we go again.
[01:35] <Cirrus> I'm losing helm control!
[01:35] <Admiral Lilwall> Talk about deja vu, we just got this thing back together
[01:36] [narration] The screen flashes brightly, and then the shaking stops
[01:36] <Cirrus> Uh, I take that back. I'm flyin' again.
[01:36] <Gravix> It seem to be very irregular.
[01:37] <Slipstream> Aaand once again LONAC goes spiralling down the crapper... or not.
[01:37] <Gravix> It's stopped for the time being.
[01:37] * Slipstream sighs, rubs her optics, and mutters to herself "why am I even still here...?"
[01:38] <Waitstate> Any signs of a wormhole or another dimensional rift? Verify our location.
[01:38] * Leroy looks about, turning to the other White Star. "Get Grant, Scott, and Chambers. Tell them to check for any structual damage and then find Dodds so he can tell me what the hell that was."
[01:38] <Admiral Lilwall> Cross reference star charts.
[01:38] *The White Star salutes then barrels out of the room
[01:39] <Slipstream> You know something's wrong with your existance when that sort of question is -normal-... *shakes her head and starts takking away at her console again*
[01:39] <Cirrus> Looks like the same place to me. Mighta gotten shifted a bit though. Light spectrum patterns don't quite match.
[01:39] <Waitstate> Lovely.
[01:40] <Admiral Lilwall> That may just be damage to the ship,
[01:40] <Waitstate> Possibly. Engineering, check out the sensors
[01:40] * Sunspot goes to the bridge engineering access panels and runs a check.
[01:41] <Sunspot> It...it looks like everything's normal...
[01:41] * Leroy taps the sides of his helmet. "My men tell me there's no real damage to the ship..."
[01:41] <Gravix> Normal for us could mean anything.
[01:41] * Admiral Lilwall runs a scan over all on board the ship via his console just to make sure no mutated or something.
[01:42] <Lightning> The interference is clearing.
[01:42] <Sunspot> Yeah, it looks like the sensor array is undamaged, as is most of the rest of the ship.
[01:43] <Lightning> I'm detecting massive amounts of metal on Perihelion, LONAC energy signatures. But it's far too much to be Outpost-1.
[01:43] <Waitstate> We'll run a full alignment series when we pull into port.
[01:44] <Waitstate> Maybe they've just been unexpectedly busy?
[01:44] <Admiral Lilwall> Where did they manage to get so many resources though?
[01:44] <Waitstate> Really nice visitors? You got me.
[01:44] <Leroy> We could send someone planetside to check it out...
[01:45] <Slipstream> Ooh, ooh, pick me!
[01:46] <Admiral Lilwall> Wait, try and contact them first, if the intereference has lifted we should have communications back.
[01:47] <Slipstream> Toooo late! We're already getting a hail from planetside. Want me t'answer it, or put it through to the big screen?
[01:47] <Waitstate> On screen, please.
[01:47] <Slipstream> Scratch that, audio only.
[01:47] <Slipstream> Speakerphone it is! *button press!*
[01:47] <Waitstate> scratch that myself. On speaker, heh.
[01:48] * Slipstream sits back, smirking. "I'm so psychic. It's all yours, big grey."
[01:48] <Overwrite> Unidentified ship, you've entered occupied space. Identify yourself and state your purpose here.
[01:49] <Waitstate> heh, being in command agrees with him, sounds like.
[01:49] <Slipstream> Sounds that way...
[01:49] <Admiral Lilwall> Unidentified? Even from this range they should be capable of knowing who we are.
[01:49] <Waitstate> [comm] Overwrite, guess who's home!
[01:50] * Slipstream croons in the background "Hoooney, I'm hoooome!"
[01:50] <Overwrite> I repeat, identify yourself. I don't appreciate games when it comes to identification.
[01:50] <Admiral Lilwall> ...
[01:51] <Leroy> I thought you knew these guys...
[01:51] <Slipstream> Man, sounds like someone got a titanium rod up somewhere unpleasant this morning...
[01:51] <Admiral Lilwall> [comm] It's good to see you developed a sense of humor, Overwrite.
[01:52] <Lighting> I'm detecting additional energy signatures activating around the planet.
[01:52] <Overwrite> Whoever you are, I don't appreciate mind games! You have 15 seconds to give a proper ID!
[01:52] <Lighting> I think they're some sort of energy platforms, no doubt orbital defense
[01:52] <Waitstate> Geez.
[01:53] <Gravix> I guess we'd better play his game.
[01:53] <Waitstate> [comm] Fine then. This is Waitstate, captain of the LSS Freedom. We haven't been gone THAT long.
[01:53] <Slipstream> Oh for... *facepalms*
[01:53] <Lightning> The orbital defenses are maintaining a lock on us, should I raise shields?
[01:54] <Slipstream> Shields would be a good idea, yes.
[01:54] <Overwrite> [comm] You have a sick, sick sense of humor. By now you should be able to detect our orbital defenses locking on to you. One last chance.
[01:54] <Waitstate> Shields, yes
[01:55] * Lightning raises the sheilds.
[01:56] <Slipstream> Interference is clearing up enough for a visual now, Wait...
[01:56] <Admiral Lilwall> [comm] Enough is enough Overwrite, we were in contact with you just twelve hours ago.
[01:56] <Waitstate> Good, let him see us. And remind me to have a diagnostic run on the little runt. >_<
[01:57] [narration] Several White Stars run into the bridge, yelling incoherently at Leroy. All four of the humans converse back and forth in a hurried manner.
[01:57] <Slipstream> Will do, grey one. *makes it so!*
[01:58] * Overwrite appears on the screen. Only, he isn't the Overwrite we remember. Though the overall features are similar, this Overwrite wears a normal size Cybertronian body, with signs of some sort of vehicular altmode.
[01:58] <Admiral Lilwall> What the pit?
[01:58] <Overwrite> It cant be...
[01:58] <Sunspot> He grew up...
[01:58] <Slipstream> ... Okay, people, raise your hands if you're really all that surprised by this turn of events?
[01:58] <Lightning> Look, behind him
[01:58] <Overwrite> S-sir? Of course, the date... I didn't think though...
[01:59] <Waitstate> [comm] Overwrite, what are you on about? More importantly, what have you done to yourself?
[01:59] * Leroy finally calms the other WS's. He runs over to Waitstate. "Waitstate, my boys were out checking the ship....G-grant took readings of the planet...."
[02:01] <Admiral Lilwall> It looks like they made a replication of the bridge.
[02:02] <Waitstate> You're right, that's my chair. It's seen better days though.
[02:02] * Sunspot checks on the science station readings, just to make sure everything's definitely working alright.
[02:02] <Sunspot> We seem to be in the right universe...
[02:02] <Lightning> The whole thing looks to have seen better days.
[02:03] <Slipstream> *dryly* Lay your bets now... alternate universe, different time, combination of the two, or one really strong mass hallucinogen?
[02:03] <Overwrite> I know what you must thinking, but you haven't crossed realities again. You've entered what I suppose is the future for you. I never expected-
[02:04] <Gravix> Ah! Well, now that the mystery is solved we can go home.
[02:04] <Waitstate> I think I would have preferred the hallucinogen, given the choice...
[02:04] <Admiral Lilwall> Like we haven't lived enough Star Trek-esque type scenarios already...
[02:04] <Sunspot> This *is* home. It's supposed to be...
[02:05] * Slipstream pretends to tick things off a nonexistant clipboard. "Alternate reality, check. Different time zone, check. All we need now is the mass hallucinogen."
[02:06] * Admiral Lilwall waits for Overwrite to stop gawking at us and continue.
[02:07] <Overwrite> I'm sorry. It's just that you're both dead, is all.
[02:08] <Slipstream> ... Well, -that's- always cheerful to hear.
[02:08] <Waitstate> I really should have seen that coming.
[02:08] <Sunspot> But they aren't dead, they're right here...
[02:08] <Gravix> At any rate, what's the harm? We're all alive now
[02:09] <Gravix> I don't know about you, but I didn't have much planned anyhow.
[02:09] <Admiral Lilwall> And hello to you too.
[02:09] <Overwrite> The entire fore section of the bridge was crushed. You both were trying to manuver the ship while everyone else evacuated
[02:10] <Admiral Lilwall> So much for being helpful.
[02:10] * Slipstream whistles faintly. "Goin' down in a blaaaaaze of glory."
[02:11] <Overwrite> The rest was ok, as you can see behind me. I had to re-upholster your chair though. They didn't make that material anymore, unfortunately, and I had to substitute. I hope that's ok!
[02:11] <Admiral Lilwall> So... I don't suppose we could come and say hi, eh?
[02:11] <Waitstate> [comm] Overwrite, I don't think that's really an issue at this point. Try and focus, ok?
[02:12] <Waitstate> [comm] We're going to move in to orbit. Could you stand down the defenses perhaps?
[02:12] <Slipstream> Because as alive as we are now, it'd be -such- a shame t'get shot down and, oh, I dunno... die again.
[02:12] <Sunspot> He's gone crazy and he's gonna shoot us...
[02:13] <Overwrite> Right, of course! *away from the comm pickup* Recoil, stand down the planetary defenses. *incoherent distant voice replies*
[02:14] <Lightning> If I died, I'm not going near Recoil.
[02:15] <Gravix> It would be interesting to see what would happen if I was alive here.
[02:16] <Admiral Lilwall> Move us into Orbit, Cirrus.
[02:16] <Cirrus> On our way.
[02:17] <Overwrite> You're clear for orbit. We'll discuss this in detail when you're here, ok?
[02:17] * Waitstate looks to Lilwall.
[02:17] * Leroy sighs. "This is great....the future of a universe I'm not even from. God I love my job," and smiles.
[02:17] <Sunspot> This is weird and I don't trust it.
[02:17] <Admiral Lilwall> I'm not flying the ship ever again, you realise.
[02:18] <Waitstate> I'm with you.
[02:18] <Admiral Lilwall> Better get any owed money from Cirrus. ;)
[02:18] <Waitstate> [comm] That works for me. This will be... interesting.
[02:19] * Overwrite nods, and the communication ends.
[02:19] * Slipstream chuckles lightly at Sunny. "Weird as it is... for us, by now it's almost -normal-..."
[02:20] <Waitstate> Well, what now? Suggestions, people?
[02:21] <Lifeblood> Presumably, we determine how to return to our own time.
[02:21] <Leroy> I'll go talk to Dodds and Sloane. They might have some inkling what to do....
[02:21] * Leroy exits the bridge, lighting another cigarette.
[02:21] <Lifeblood> And perhaps inquire as to what circumstances resulted in the Freedom's destruction.
[02:22] <Waitstate> Right. Assemble the theoretical team to analyze the phenomina we passed through. Hopefully our counterparts will have more info than we do.
[02:22] <Slipstream> We go down, take all the alchohol with us, and let the poor bastards down there get absolutely roaring drunk, cos it sounds like they could use it. *grins*
[02:23] <Waitstate> I don't know about that. I've been looking at the scans, and they seem to be thriving down there.
[02:23] <Slipstream> In that case, let's just go have a piss-up for the hell of it. :)
[02:33] <Lifeblood> Alas.
[02:34] [narration] As the ship moves into orbit, it's clear what must have happened. A HUGE trench is leading up to the main city. The main city itself has a rather familiar outline: clearly, it once was at least part of the LSS Freedom. However, it is very much no longer intact, and embedded quite far down into the ground. Either that, or the bottom several decks are missing. Either way doesn't bode well for the past. Or is that... the future?
