Session Start: Sun Aug 03 01:23:00 2003
[01:23] [narration] The ship has been repaired, and our equipment on the surface has been packed up. Everyone that's leaving with us is on board the ship, including a number for White Star employees and family members. They know they're never coming back, but it's an adventure they couldn't pass up.
[01:23] * Waitstate is on the bridge, coordinating the final tasks needed to depart with LeRoy and the White Star people.
[01:24] * Waitstate runs diagnostics on all systems.
[01:25] * Cirrus runs command system checks on the navigational interface.
[01:26] * Comet is taking the opportunity to finally learn his way around the ship.
[01:27] * Slipstream is parked somewhere on the flight deck in her alt mode.
[01:28] * LeRoy stands next to Waitstate, smoking a thick cigarette. "Today's the day, eh?"
[01:28] * Waitstate settles in to his command chair.
[01:28] <Waitstate> Assuming nothing goes wrong.
[01:29] * Diecast is sprawled out on the Observation deck, starring up into space. Optics half-closed, his mind is rather blank and the gambler bot just relaxes after al the hard-repariy thinger stuff.
[01:29] <Waitstate> At this point, I'm half expecting the ship to explode before we're out of the system. But I guess I've picked up some pessimism of late.
[01:29] * Gearlock is down in Engineering, taking a look at the place...
[01:29] * Solder is still unconscious in the medbay.
[01:30] * Waitstate watches the tiny curl of LeRoy's cigarette dissapate into the air.
[01:30] * Redliner strolls around with a few of the humans, chatting gaily and asking a million questions...
[01:32] * Talis wonders down to the flight deck, finding a 'snoozing' Slipstream. At least, so he thinks...
[01:32] * Slipstream is, indeed, to all intents and appearances, snoozing like a mofo! Perhaps.
[01:33] * Talis walks up to slip, quietly, and pulls out a small energon goodie.
[01:33] <Slipstream> If you try and put that on my nose, you big green lump, I'm gonna thump y'upside the head.
[01:33] <Comet> [comm] Comet to, um, Bridge.
[01:33] * Waitstate thumbs his comm button.
[01:34] <Waitstate> [comm to Comet] Bridge here.
[01:34] <Comet> Um, Commander? I was wondering... well, the ship is all fixed now... when shall I be taking that test?
[01:34] * Talis puts the energon goodie on Slip's aft fuselage instead.
[01:35] <Waitstate> [comm] As soon as we're underway and the chaos has died down a bit.
[01:35] * Slipstream sighs. Bloody wannabe comedians...
[01:35] <Comet> [comm] Yessir.
[01:35] <Talis> Besides, as efficient as you are, you could use some energon. You wouldn't have to sleep so much.
[01:35] <Comet> [comm] Is there anything you require of me at the moment?
[01:36] * Slipstream sounds dryly amused. "Hey, I happen to -like- sleeping..."
[01:36] <Waitstate> [comm] Have patience, heh. I haven't forgotten. At the moment... not too much. Take a post in astrometrics I guess. We could always use another pair of optics watching our systems.
[01:36] [narration] Several White Star employees scrable around, fixing stuff.
[01:36] <Cirrus> I resent that!
[01:36] <Waitstate> Shush you.
[01:36] * Cirrus raspberries and goes back to his console.
[01:37] <Comet> [comm] Yessir, sir.
[01:38] * Dark Star walks around the plaza
[01:38] <Waitstate> I will never get used to people calling me that, heh...
[01:38] * Redliner helps the White Star humans! He loves squishies, the short little bastard.
[01:38] <Comet> [comm] ...um, forgive me, but would that be on the bridge or in one of the labs I've found?
[01:38] <Waitstate> [comm] It's in a lab, I suppose. Ask the computer.
[01:39] <Talis> And what have you done to deserve sleeping so much anyway?
[01:39] <Comet> [comm] Yessir. Comet out.
[01:39] <Waitstate> Mr. LeRoy, what's the word with your people?
[01:39] * Comet goes to a lab.
[01:40] * Waitstate looks down at he round human, who's holding a squishy-sized portable console.
[01:40] <Slipstream> long-range patrol, among other things.
[01:40] * Comet finds a lab and takes a post in astrometrics.
[01:41] <LeRoy> *drags off his cigarette* My techs say everything is working as well as can be expected. My armored units are out fixing any hairline cracks in the armor.
[01:41] * Diecast streaches his arms out, metal creaking and groaning and finally popping. From above, he looks like he's been crucified. To the floor. Yeah.
[01:41] <Talis> *snorts* Bet you sleep out there too. *takes a seat on some containers nearby*
[01:42] <Waitstate> *sigh* would be just our luck if a micrometeor hit a microfracture and tore through a reactor...
[01:42] * Slipstream chuckles. "Not half as much as y'might expect..."
[01:42] * LeRoy chuckles, "Have faith in my boys, Waitstate. Everything will be working terrificly."
[01:43] <Waitstate> well, at least we didn't get into a shootout on your orbital station. That would have been just a bit cliche for me at this point...
[01:43] * Waitstate looks down.
[01:43] <Waitstate> Don't ask.
[01:43] <Comet> Hmm...
[01:44] * Comet begins uploading his own catalogue of starcharts to the Freedom's.
[01:45] * Dark Star walks around the plaza more.
[01:46] <Talis> I dunno. Gets awfully quiet when you're out there alone for extended periods of time.
[01:46] * LeRoy laughs "As if any of my people could stand up to Cybertronian weaponry."
[01:46] * Comet assumes it'll be okay to also download those charts the Freedom has that he doesn't...
[01:47] <Waitstate> Like I said, don't ask, heh.
[01:47] <Slipstream> True, true... but I'm used to the quiet. You do a lot of long-range solo stuff too, mm?
[01:47] <Waitstate> Looks like we're ready. Diagnositics are green. How about your men?
[01:49] * Comet wonders if anyone on the Bridge notices gaps being filled into the starcharts.. /:)
[01:50] * Roadkill is at the comm station on the bridge... but paying more attention to the commlines he's monitoring and the music from his headphones than anything going on around him.
[01:51] <Talis> Long range, anyway. Somtimes solo. Sometimes It's waypoint-structured: contact target-A, refuel Target-B. *chuckles* You know, help out the ones that are doing long range stuff but aren't quite built for it.
[01:52] * LeRoy nods. "All 30 of my men are aboard. They are ready to depart as soon as possible."
[01:53] <Waitstate> Roadkill, inform White Star we're ready to depart.
[01:53] * Slipstream snickers. "Sucks to be them. I'm proud t'say I've never needed an in-flight refuel in my life, not that I can remember, anyway."
[01:54] <Waitstate> Cirrus, clear all moorings, seal all airlocks, and prepare to fire manuvering thrusters.
[01:54] <Roadkill> Aye, cap'n! [comm] White Star, the Freedom is ready to depart. Thanks for all the fish!
[01:54] <Gravix> It's a shame we couldn't spend more time on the planet
[01:55] <White Star> [comm] Awknowledged, Freedom. Be safe. May the stars be on your side.
[01:55] * Gravix pushes buttons on his console.
[01:55] <Roadkill> [comm] Appreciated, White Star, and likewise.
[01:55] <Waitstate> I rather think we spend a little more than I would have liked, heh.
[01:55] <Comet> Fish?
[01:56] * Comet kept an ear on the bridge to know what's going on...
[01:56] <Talis> Funny enough, neither have I. I'm always the one doing the refueling.
[01:57] <Waitstate> Scan for obstructions, please? I don't want to hit anything on our way out.
[01:57] <Talis> 'Course, it isn't always keeping everyone else out on the field. Used to do bombing runs on small cap ships. half of those missions were solo.
[01:57] * Comet doesn't know if he was the one given that order or not, but does it anyway.
[01:58] <Talis> As much fun as they were...I dunno, just doing the refueling runs seems to help take the edge off things.
[01:58] <Slipstream> Bombing runs, neh? I've done things like that a couple of times too, though I'm not really built for it. I can't dish out all that much damage, but it serves as a distraction when needed...
[01:59] <Talis> Heh. Well, for all the arsenal I can carry, I'm not meant for maneuvering. *pats the thruster tanks on his back* I can get in and out as fast as most of them, but if I don't have some cover squadron on the other side of my run, I'm an easy target.
[02:00] <Gravix> Scans come up negative.
[02:00] <Waitstate> good to hear.
[02:00] <Gravix> However, if we wait too long we're going to collide with one of their satellites.
[02:00] <Waitstate> comm, inform White Star that we are proceeding to disembark.
[02:00] <Gravix> So I recommned keeping the goodbye's to a minimum.
[02:00] * LeRoy takes a drag off of his cigarette.
[02:01] * Slipstream rises and falls a little on her landing gear in a sort of amused nod. "Yeah, I bet if we went up against each other one on one in space, I'd rip ya to pieces."
[02:01] <Talis> *grins* Only so much boosting power before I go back to normal speeds.
[02:01] <Waitstate> Cirrus, begin taxiing procedures on my mark.
[02:01] <Talis> *shrugs* I didn't say I'd go down easy, just that I'm an easy target.
[02:02] <Talis> I remember one mission we'd been hired out for...
[02:02] <Talis> Bomb run, cover going in, solo making the run, cover once I'd gotten out. And they'd launched their squadrons late. Couldn't catch me until after I'd dropped my payload.
[02:04] <Roadkill> Roger that, Wait. [comm] White Star, we're proceeding with disembarking procedures.
[02:04] <Slipstream> Sounds interesting...
[02:04] <Talis> We'd done some damage, but nothing major. Wasn't our job to make a kill, just drop the payload and send a signal. Anyway, three targets start chasing me, trying to keep up. Good things about having turrets is constant fire wherever you want it to go. Got two of them to peel off.
[02:05] <Talis> The third kept on me. We had monitoring equipment, so we could hear the others chattering. Which was rather amusing in and of itself.
[02:05] <White Star> *comm* Roger that. Have a safe journey, Freedom
[02:06] <Waitstate> Cirrus, go.
[02:06] <Talis> But yeah, the third guy stayed with me, avoiding my turrets or soaking the hits. It was kinda like he knew I wouldn't be able to burn at that speed for very long. I could tell that even before we'd gotten to a point where we would have to dogfight--just from the way he played against my turrets--that he would be a pain.
[02:07] * Cirrus takes the ship out of port, and navigates her clear of the planet's orbit.
[02:08] * Slipstream listens with interest... like all good starfighters, she likes a good dogfighting story when there's one to be told.
[02:08] <Comet> [comm to Bridge] Minor power spike in conduits leading to number three thruster. Compensating.
[02:08] <Roadkill> [comm] Will do, White Star. Freedom out.
[02:09] <Comet> [comm to Bridge] Done. Thruster fine. Deflectors at full power; space dust should not be a problem. Watch for their satellites, everyone.
[02:09] <Talis> Of course, my escort arrived before I burned up my fuel for that speedburst. Nothing like seeing the trails of weaponsfire you recognize raining past your at the other guy.
[02:09] * Slipstream chuckles. "Oh yeah, that's always a welcome sight t'see."
[02:10] <Waitstate> alright then...
[02:10] <Waitstate> You're sure the new engines will work, right?
[02:11] * LeRoy presses the earpiece in his helmet. "Waitstate, one of my men reports some kind of damage to the starboard engine...may have to wait..."
[02:11] * Waitstate is nervous, not having been involved in the construction as much as he'd like.
[02:11] <Waitstate> just what I needed, heh. Cirrus, thrusters to stationkeeping.
[02:11] <Waitstate> Tell them to proceed, LeRoy.
[02:12] <Talis> Yes it is. The enemy chatter was amusing too. Very professional, rehearesed. The other side seemed to know what to do and when.
[02:12] <LeRoy> *presses his helmet* "Sloan, McNider, proceed to the engine. first guy to report complete repairs gets a drink on me."
[02:12] <Comet> Generous leader...
[02:14] <Talis> but right when the back-up arrived, they got a little louder. Not chaotic or lost or anything, but more...aware. Like they knew they had to up the tempo.
[02:14] <Talis> It wasn't confusion or anything, but the fact that orders had to get reeled out one after another after another. See, with the pros you know they're in trouble not because they're confused, but because they have to prep that much faster to try and beat you. I dunno, find that amusing.
[02:15] <Slipstream> Heh, y'strike me as one t'be easily amused, for some reason.
[02:15] <Talis> maybe. ;)
[02:15] * Waitstate waits, nervously tapping his fingers on his armrest.
[02:16] * Slipstream chuckles slightly, the sound somewhat odd coming from the plain, matte-black starfighter.
[02:17] <Slipstream> Y'gonna get that energon thing off my aft, or do I hafta dump it on the floor when I transform? *her voice sounds dry and slightly amused*
[02:18] <Talis> Huh? hey, whatever you want to do. Anyway, at one point they yelled at someone, or someone back, or something. Anvil, was the guy. Don't know if he was chasing me, or following the guy chasing me.
[02:19] * LeRoy chuckles, then nods, "awknowledged, Sloan. Good job," and turns to Waitstate, "Engines are working at maximum capacity!"
[02:19] <Slipstream> Anvil, hmm? *sounds mildly curious* What other names were bandied about during that little furball...?
[02:19] <Waitstate> Excellent... what was the problem?
[02:20] <Talis> That was all. I thought I'd heard a Crosscut, but I don't know if that was a flyer or a maneuver. They seemed to break off after that call.
[02:21] * Slipstream would narrow her optics if she were in bot mode. As it is, it's a little hard to read the body language of a starfighter. "Crosscut... heh."
[02:22] * LeRoy chuckles. "My men are still clumsy in those ExoSuits. McCoy accidently rammed a manuevering claw through a capacitor."
[02:22] <Waitstate> ouch.
[02:22] <Talis> AH well. The fact that we were operating so quickly, with such a go-in, get-out objective, it didn't matter. *gets up and starts walking out of the flight deck* It was like the dead of Winter out there when we left. *heads out*
[02:23] <Waitstate> Cirrus, bring the new engines online. Everyone else, cross your fingers.
[02:24] * Comet switches his screen over to watch the engines on the Ship Status.
[02:24] * Slipstream can't suppress a little growl from her engines at the name of Winter... "Sodding bastard..."
[02:24] <LeRoy> He's okay. The Exo-Suits seen better days, though.
[02:25] * Cirrus activates the engines. A subtle thrum runs through the ship, fading after a moment to imperceptable levels with normal sensory systems.
[02:25] * Waitstate is wincing slightly.
[02:25] <Comet> [comm] All looks fine from here.
[02:25] <Waitstate> huh.
[02:26] <Comet> [comm] Diagonstic programs showing all greens...
[02:26] <Waitstate> alright then. take us to 227 mark 39 mark 123 and engage 1/4 impulse
[02:27] * Cirrus does so, and the ship begins moving.
[02:27] * OutReach lights another cigarette, smiling broadly.
[02:27] <Waitstate> Take us through a standard ramp up to full impulse. Let me know when we've cleared the local gravity well.
[02:28] * Comet checks something.
[02:29] <Comet> Hmm.
[02:29] <Comet> [comm] Suggest a minor course correction 30 degrees zenith - radio wave echo suggests an uncharted comet orbit interceding with our current course.
[02:30] * Cirrus acknowledges and compensates.
[02:33] * Slipstream sighs and grumbles to herself, then uses her repulsorlifts to get her a fair distance off the deck before transforming and swiftly grabbing the energon thing that had been perched on her aft before it falls to the floor.
[02:36] <Cirrus> Full impulse, now. Looks like the things work!
[02:37] * Waitstate visibly relaxes.
[02:38] <Comet> [comm] Whoa.
[02:38] <Waitstate> [comm] Problem?
[02:39] <Comet> [comm] Nothing, it's just... things are going REALLY smoothly. I didn't expect it.
[02:40] <Waitstate> [comm] yeah, well, we haven't tried the interphase drive yet...
[02:40] <Comet> [comm] The new human element on board seems to have the effect of the ship itself being binary-bonded, if that makes any sense...
[02:40] <Comet> [comm] Yes, that's true..
[02:41] <Gravix> So...
[02:41] <Gravix> Interesting planet.
[02:45] <Waitstate> yes. here's to never seeing it again, heh
[02:45] * Slipstream tosses the energon piece up and down in one hand as she idly wanders out of the flight deck and heads elsewhere in the ship.
[02:45] * Waitstate glances at LeRoy.
[02:45] <Waitstate> erm, yeah.
[02:45] <Comet> [comm] I can agree with that. Um, no offense, White Star.
[02:45] <Comet> [comm] Are you still White Star, on that note?
[02:47] <Waitstate> I dont see any reason to dissolve the name. Maybe they can start a new franchise in our universe. Rather unique opportunity, don't you think?
[02:47] <Comet_> [comm] Hadn't thought of that.
[02:48] <Comet_> [comm] ...ooooh. Beautiful nebula at port, 10x magnification.
[02:50] * Waitstate thumbs it on screen.
[02:50] <Waitstate> nice...
[02:53] <Comet> [comm] Hm, power spike in that same thruster again. White Star, is this cause for concern?
[02:54] <White Star> *comm* Scanning, Freedom...
[02:54] <Cirrus> Gravity well all clear.
[02:55] * Comet compensates for the power spike again as White Star scans.
[02:55] <Waitstate> [comm] Engineering, we're ready for interphase. Engine status?
[02:56] <White Star> *comm* we're not picking up anything critical, Freedom. You seem to be in the clear. check your screens again.
[02:56] <Waitstate> [comm] Comet? What's the word?
[02:57] <Comet> [comm] I'm not sure.
[02:57] <LeRoy> *looks up at Waitstate, turning off his earpiece* What was that? I was trying to talk to Pratt about a flayed coupling....
[02:57] <Comet> [comm] Maybe it's just a hiccup that'll work itself out as we break in the new equipment?
[02:58] <Waitstate> we're clear for interphase, but I don't want to risk it if all the boards aren't green. We have conflicting reports from different departments.
[02:59] <Comet> [comm] As far as I can see, it's just that thruster, and it hasn't done anything major thus far. It's not exactly my field, though...
[03:00] * LeRoy nods, looking over at two White Starer's clad in red and white uniforms. "Garrik, Chambers. Get down there and check those pulsars. I want these lights in the green four minutes ago."
[03:00] [narration] The two nod crisply and quickly exit.
[03:02] <Comet> Pulsars....
[03:02] <Gravix> Who ever thought take-off could be so complicated?
[03:03] <Waitstate> You weren't here for our first launch. We had a tenth of the staff.
[03:03] <Comet> [comm] Sir, there is a pulsar approximately three hundred light years out on starboard side. Its waves seem to coincide with the power spikes. It may only be that interference.
[03:03] <Comet> [comm] Waiting for White Star to confirm, though.
[03:03] <Waitstate> I hate cold starts. New engines are such a pain.
[03:04] <Waitstate> Roadkill, any chance you can filter out the pulsars with the shields?
[03:04] <Roadkill> Can try... *starts messing around with the shield controls*
[03:04] <LeRoy> Heh, most of this ship is brand new. Problems are inevitable.
[03:05] <Waitstate> [comm] Comet, we're trying something up here. Let us know if your board changes.
[03:06] <Waitstate> Meanwhile, Engineering, what's the antimatter reactor status?
[03:06] <Comet> [comm] Affirmative. If power conservation becomes an issue, it should be sufficient to center the shielding around deck seven, section C. The entire side of the ship should not require shielding.
[03:06] <Waitstate> if we're clear, let's start revving it up to interphase transit power levels.
[03:07] [narration] Two dozen White Star's in Exosuits wash through the ship like a wave of red and white, checking and double checking everything.
[03:09] <Roadkill> I am genius! *leans back and folds his arms behind his head* Consider those pulsars filtered...!
[03:09] <Waitstate> Good work RK! heh.
[03:09] <Waitstate> [Comm] Comet, any change?
[03:09] <Comet> [comm] If it was the pulsar, it doesn't seem to be affecting us anymore.
[03:10] <Comet> [comm] But it would be wise to keep in mind it may not have been the pulsar...
[03:10] <Waitstate> excellent.
[03:10] <White Star> [comm] those powerspike seem to be caused by the pulsars. there doesnt seem to be any danger to the ship, Freedom.
[03:10] <Comet> [comm] On the other hand. /:)
[03:10] <Waitstate> Engineering, what about the reactor?
[03:12] <LeRoy> I've got Pratt, Sloan, McNider, and Chambers down fine tuning the reactor, Waitstate.
[03:12] <Waitstate> Well, let me know when we can pour on the juice. I'm anxious to blow up, I mean start up those engines, heh.
[03:12] * LeRoy smiles.
[03:13] * LeRoy offers Waitstate a cigarette. "Wanna smoke, boss?"
[03:13] <Waitstate> Thanks, but no, heh.
[03:14] <LeRoy> You sure? It'll calm those frayed nerves of yours.
[03:14] <Comet_> [private comm to Cirrus] We're going to need new upholstery every six months with smokers onboard. :p
[03:14] <Waitstate> Restore tells me those things are loaded with stimulants. Besides, I don't think it'd work on me, heh.
[03:15] * LeRoy shrugs, lighting it himself, blowing smoke out his nose.
[03:16] <Cirrus> [private comm to Comet] Eh, sokay. Humans can replace their own upholstry. I bet I spew more fumes just talking than those tiny little sticks.
[03:18] <Comet_> [private comm] You're disgusting. *laughs*
[03:19] * LeRoy nods slightly as he listens on his earpiece, then gives a thumbs up to Waitstate. "My boys tell me the reactor's as good as it's gonna get, boss!"
[03:20] <Cirrus> [private comm] *giggles*
[03:20] <Cirrus> Alright! Pedal to the metal! Woo!
[03:21] <Waitstate> Something like that, heh. Warm up the engines and take us to minimum IPT.
[03:21] <Cirrus> Aww... yessir
[03:23] * Cirrus eases the ship into interphase.
[03:23] <Comet> [comm] "Pedal to the metal", as you so put it, would probably have the carbon-based among us suffering radiation poisoning while the rest of us drifted aimlessly through space, our engine having exploded from being overworked without ample warmup time.
[03:23] * There's a small, rough shudder through the ship.
[03:23] * Waitstate jumps slightly before realizing.
[03:24] <Waitstate> Don't worry everyone, just the drive plasma coming into phase...
[03:24] <Waitstate> I hate cold starts. >_<
[03:24] <Roadkill> Sounds more like the drive plasma hacking up a loogie...
[03:24] <Comet> [comm] Everything seems to be working...
[03:24] * Roadkill grins and goes back to his music and comm monitoring.
[03:24] <Cirrus> [private comm] You think too much!
[03:26] <Comet> [private comm] Sorry.. -_-
[03:26] <Waitstate> Ok Cirrus, you know the drill. Take us slowly to cruising velocity.
[03:26] <Waitstate> <Cirrus> Aye aye! *salutes, then giggles*
[03:26] * LeRoy smiles, patting Waitstate on the leg "You worry to much, Gray Man. Just take it slow and easy and it'll be smooth..."
[03:27] <Waitstate> Eh, you got to work on the engines. I couldn't fit on your damn station. *sour expression*
[03:29] <LeRoy> *chuckles* sorry, Waitstate. But White Star doesn't build their hallways in Cybertronian big and tall.
[03:29] <Waitstate> yeah yeah.
[03:29] <Comet> [private comm] Cirrus...?
[03:30] <Cirrus> [private comm] yeah?
[03:30] <Comet> [private comm] I couldn't tell if you were seriously mad or what...
[03:30] <Cirrus> [private comm] Naw. Don't be silly. ^_^
[03:31] <Comet> [private comm] Heh, okay, co - NO!
[03:31] <Comet> [comm] Power fluctuations in antimatter containment field conduits!!
[03:32] <Waitstate> Cirrus, power down!
[03:32] * Cirrus acts before even getting the order.
[03:32] <Cirrus> Dropped to impulse!
[03:32] <Comet> [Comm] That won't matter. If the field goes down, the antimatter will be let loose upon the ship. That would be... bad...
[03:32] <Waitstate> Engineering, what happened?
[03:33] <Waitstate> Power down the reactor. Emergency ejection systems, stand by.
[03:33] <Comet> [comm] Reroute any available power to that field. If it goes, we all go - possibly the universe with us.
[03:34] * LeRoy barks out several commands, a half dozen White Star's pouring over consoles and conduits.
[03:35] <Waitstate> Cut thrust. I'm transferring impulse reactor power to field integrity.
[03:35] <Cirrus> Impulse engines offline.
[03:35] <Comet> [comm] Don't understand why...
[03:36] <Comet> [comm] Everything seems PHYSICALLY okay...
[03:37] <Waitstate> Run diagnostics. I want to know what's going on. Ejection systems set on automatic. Let's get this fixed so we dont have to limp back to White Star Orbital?
[03:37] <LeRoy> Pratt! Sloan! McNider! What the hell happened!?
[03:38] <Comet> [comm] Wait, it's not hardware... um, pun not intended, Commander...
[03:38] * Comet punches commands in on his keyboard.
[03:38] <Comet> [comm] Of course, this explains everything...
[03:39] <Comet> [comm] The ship's computer is infected with a sort of virus. It's not so much destructive as it is... playful, it seems...
[03:39] <Comet> [comm] It caused the power spikes, it's doing this now.. it's laughing at us.
[03:39] <Comet> [comm] It's some strange AI that derives its pleasure from causing us to fret for our lives...
[03:40] <Comet> [comm] I don't know how to get rid of it, though. It's in your hands, guys..
[03:40] <Waitstate> You're saying something got into MY computers?
[03:40] <Come_> [comm] It... looks that way; I don't know how...
[03:41] <Waitstate> I don't know HOW you got in there, but...
[03:42] * Waitstate looks to go offline for a few moments, then a buzzing like a little tortured scream plays over the bridge comm system.
[03:42] * Comet jerks back as the scream pierces his audioreceptors.
[03:42] * Waitstate reactivates his optics.
[03:42] * Roadkill winces slightly at the little noice. eegh.
[03:43] <Waitstate> Die you little piece of electrostatic discharge. >_<
[03:43] <Roadkill> Killed it?
[03:43] <Waitstate> Quite throughly, yes.
[03:43] <Comet> [private comm to Cirrus] What's going on? I've never heard him talk like this... O_o
[03:44] <Cirrus> [private comm to Comet] He takes his computers VERY seriously. o_o
[03:44] <Roadkill> Good-oh.
[03:45] <Waitstate> Engineering, get my reactor back online. Cirrus, resume course. I'm sick of this runaround.
[03:45] * Comet gulps.
[03:47] <Comet> [comm] ...Sir? Is everything okay?
[03:47] <Waitstate> [comm] Yes, yes. We're fine. let me know if you detect any more problems *sighs*
[03:47] <Comet> [comm] Yes sir.. sorry, sir.
[03:48] <Comet> [comm] Everything shows green now.
[03:48] <LeRoy> I got my best guys in engineering, Wait.
[03:48] <Cirrus> [private comm] Dun worry. He's not mad atcha
[03:48] <Waitstate> I know. Just frustrated
[03:48] <Comet> [private comm] You're sure?
[03:48] <Cirrus> [private comm] Abs'lutely :)
[03:49] <Comet> [private comm] Thanks. :)
[03:49] * Cirrus revs the engine back up, and we're on our way!
[03:49] <Comet> [comm] We're in the pipe. Five, by five.
[03:50] * LeRoy sighs, "a very reluctant beginning to our journey, eh?"
[03:51] <Waitstate> once we have the bugs worked out, it'll be much better...
[03:51] <Waitstate> I keep telling myself that, and hope it's true.
[03:52] <Comet_> [comm] All systems go, and running within preset efficiency levels... everything looks good this time.
