Rockbox lived as one of a relatively few neutral citizens on an obscure Autobot colony. There he worked as a data courier for whoever hired him, be they Autobot or Decepticon. This raised the ire of both sides’ leaderships, but both sides chose to leave him be as his services benefited both sides. A Decepticon attack on the Autobot colony left Rockbox’s home and business destroyed. The Autobot’s saw this as an opportunity to recruit Rockbox and refused to allow him to restart his business unless he signed an exclusive contract. He refused and tried to start back up on the Decepticon colony, only to be denied due to his past dealings with the Autobots.

Left without his business, Rockbox turned to one of his hobbies for work: the party scene. As a DJ he became very popular in the various clubs around the colony and quickly made a name for himself. His ability to manipulate and shape sound made him a natural for this line of work. He was hosting a party at the colony’s trendiest club when the first warnings of star system’s sun gong nova were sent out. Rockbox was just able to make it to a ship when then the star exploded. This ship turned out to be the only one to survive.

Rockbox has extensive communication and data storage abilities. He can transmit and receive signals directly through sub-space and can act as an interstellar relay transmitter. He has nearly limitless data storage on the light matrix data discs in his abdomen. He can also encrypt or decode any signal he receives. In his stereo mode he can operate as a full PA system and has the ability to shape the sound he produces. He carries a small laser pistol in robot mode.

Rockbox has minimal combat experience and requires the use of bodyguards in situations where combat is expected. Deep space transmission and receiving puts a heavy strain on his systems and has been known to blows them out with heavy use. Such blowouts leave him immobile. Rockbox tends to keep parties going far to long and usually ends up taking jobs with little rest and a hang over.
