What Was I Talking About Again?
"Get OFFA me you little pest!" I say, throwing the unexpected mass of metal to the floor. I've done it dozens of times, so I don't suppose it hurts them. Almost a pity, that.
A Spiderbot just landed on my face. Scrabble I think. Definately not one of the drones types anyway. I have to learn to stop looking up. I really thought I'd gotten that grating sealed up, too. It must have gotten "fixed" during the refit. I'll make a note to engineering to do something about it. Or maybe fix it myself... I use my laser torches so seldom that I doubt most people know I have them. Ah well, nevermind. Always good to have secrets I guess.
Now then, to dispose of the little- ok, looks like it's already escaped. I probably wouldn't have had the heart to actually harm it anyway. Diablo and Slipstream sure are fond of the things. I've peeked at their programming before. Hard to believe such simple little AI's can be so mischievious. The advantage of Cybertronian programming languages I guess. I'd say we understand intelligent machines just a bit better than most of the universe.
Back to what I was doing before, I guess. Actually, that was one of the more exciting parts of my day. Really got the energon moving. Life on the bridge can be pretty dull, especially when it's just me and Cirrus. At least he has his music filtered through to his audio receptors today. Sometimes it's nice, but other times... well, I'm just suprised he hasn't been in to Medbay yet for a new signal processor.
Good kid though. Owes me a lot of money.
Aside from the helm, all the stations are empty. Sometimes Lightning or Slipstream will come on duty. They're pretty good about that, though I sometimes think Slip just does it because it amuses her. Sometimes Aries is up here working with the main computer or sensors. He does a lot of research. I should find out what kind of research it is. Maybe I could help? Who knows.
Looking ahead, I see... well, space. Filtered through a viewscreen. Kinda pretty really. It gets a funny sort of distortion when we travel faster than light. Difficult to explain really. Though the cliche'd doppler effect does stretch the stars a bit. It's easy to lose track of time watching it....
Whoa, like I said, easy.
I guess Engineering will be getting here soon. Sooner if Thrashmane is recharging.
"Something wrong, boss?"
"Er, no. Carry on."
"Yeah, sure...."
Hm, I must have laughed out loud. Better watch myself on that. The walls have ears, or somesuch like that. At least they don't have creepy holograms anymore. Don't miss THAT, nooo.
It sure is easy to lose track of people in this big ol' universe we call home. We call ourselves explorers, but we've hardly charted any of space, on a universal scale. Not suprising I guess when you consider how far apart galaxies are, much less stars.
Yeah, space is really big. Mostly empty, too. Very dull. It's no wonder some of the crew get stir crazy. Maybe I'll take one of their suggestions and open up some corridors on an unused deck for drag racing. That should satisfy some of them anyway. Maybe on deck 7... I don't think anyone has quarters there. I'll have to double check the new layout. I'll have Panelbeater pull up the carpeting and store it in the empty crew quarters. Maybe even take down a few walls use some of them as boxes for audiences. I'm sure Terra will want the consessions rights.
Why do the simplest ideas always turn into huge projects with me?
Ah well, I'll write up my notes and give them to Panelbeater later.
Is that the door? Ah, yep, Sunspot and her little dragon. Cute thing, that. Better than spiders.
Might as well get up and show her where the grate is. She'll probably laugh. All the crewmembers with "pets" seem to. Bah.
Hrm.
I wonder how long it'll be before this chair starts to squeak. My old chair squeaked.
