Chapter 4

"Hehehe, sure is touchy" Bataract cackled.

Xaraxus knew the contents of the "Book of Mordalis" forward and backward being that he was a member of the Cult of Mordalis.  He didn't see how outsiders could interpret the book, or even use the information to harm the Cult.  Xaraxus could not disobey his orders, not yet at least.  However, the time for his full betrayal was soon, and could not begin full swing until he had eliminated the last obstacle in his path.

Spectral Death walked though the station looking in all directions.  Large groups of travelers were fairly common, so they didn't draw any unwanted attention.

"Split up, we've got too much station to cover" Xaraxus ordered.

As soon as the various group members were out of site, Xaraxus continued on with Cyron.  Soon, they came to what was obviously a traveling trader.  They stopped in front of him.  The bot was rust colored with a large traveling crate with him.  Without a word, Cyron picked him up by the neck and pinned him against the wall.

"W-What do you want?" he asked.

"A book" Xaraxus replied.  "Not some electronic database, but a good old fashioned non-rewritable text.  You're just the type to have run across it."

"I don't know what you're talking about jerk."  The little bot reached behind the crate and pulled out a 7.5 class long rifle and attempted to shoot Cyron with it.  Cyron snatched it away before it could be fired and crushed the middle of the barrel.

"I like to be lenient.  However, my friend here has no patients at all" Xaraxus replied with a grin.

"Everyone's gotta be pushin' old Dayvon around.  Doesn't anyone pay for anything anymore?" Dayvon asked.

Xaraxus then transferred a few credits.  "You want more, you'll talk."

"I traded it to some jerk Cybertronian a few hours ago, he's probably still on the station.  He was all maroon, kinda tall.  Didn't have much with him."

Without further delay Cyron twisted one of Dayvon's arms in the wrong direction and threw him as far as he could.  He screamed in pain, much to the enjoyment of Cyron.  Xaraxus and Cyron left him in search of the Cybertronian that he described.

Elsewhere on the station…

"Zip Zap, this one looks like he knows something!" Dominion replied as he grabbed a random figure walking by.

Zip Zap walked over to Dominion.  Both of them towered over the quivering creature, their wings blocking a lot of light.  "Heh, tell us what you know creature, or be destroyed!"

"T-t-tell you w-what?" the creature asked.

"Doesn't know anything it seems" Zip Zap replied.

"Nope" Dominion agreed as he aimed his blaster.

"Next one is mine" Zip Zap grinned.

Little did they know that an observer was standing on an overhead bridge.  He had worked a piece of the railing loose and tossed it down on the unsuspecting members just at the right time.

The creature fled the area as the two harassers slowly freed themselves.

"Urg, what just happened?" Zip Zap asked.

Dominion looked up at the bridge.  "It came from up there."

Dominion and Zip Zap flew up to the bridge and began looking for their attacker.

------------

"Waitstate, according to the database, a space station should be within range shortly" Cirrus announced.

"Very good.  We'll make a stop there, then continue our trip" Waitstate replied.

"Are you sure you want to go through with this Wait, it's not too late to change your mind you know" Shadowpaw asked.

"I agree Wait.  We can understand your anger, heck, we're all angry.  Are you sure you just want to give up your values like this though?" Slipstream added.

Waitstate shook his head.  "We won't have any peace until this threat is eliminated.  The first strike must be made now before they become too powerful for us to handle.  Neutrality will never be ours until we have no more enemies."

Artifice thought to himself.  "I like Waitstate's suddenly developed zeal.  I wonder however if he can see how he contradicts his purpose for LONAC.  His mission is too valid to contest, at least for now.  I'll just have to keep a close eye on him."
